The deputy Dean of the Degree in Physiotherapy of the Catholic University of Murcia, José Luis Martínez Gil, explained this morning at the XIX National Congress of Physiotherapy in the Balneario de Archena that "elite athletes are doing more and more aquatic exercises to improve their performance , Increase their elasticity and resistance ".

Some of these activities are 'Ai Chi, which is Tai-chi hydric, and myotensive techniques.

In addition, in recent years there are studies that are demonstrating that exercising within the water carries many benefits, although there is still a lot of scientific research on the subject, as Martínez Gil recalled.

On the other hand, the deputy dean also recalled that "water can be used to treat virtually all pathologies, except cardiovascular problems and cancer, since hydrotherapy is not always so appropriate for such diseases."

As for physiotherapy in hydrotherapy treatments, the director of physiotherapy at the Balneario de Archena, Santiago García, said that "this discipline has acquired a fundamental role in the center," adding that they work "side by side" with doctors When it comes to treating patients.
