The Road Cleaning Service collects 87 tonnes of waste during the Day of the Orchard of the Huerta (19/04/2017)

The Department of Development, led by Roque Ortiz, and the concessionaire Ferrovial Service have deployed a special device that has allowed the city to be almost clean after the Bando de la Huerta.

The Road Cleaning Service has collected during the whole day 87,020 kilos which is nine tons more than last year when a total of 78 were collected.

The Bando de la Huerta tour finished cleaning at 12 o'clock at night, the downtown area about 6 o'clock in the morning and the gardens are being finished this morning.

Thus, the special device established until 5 am in the barracks were collected 14.5 tons that add to the 44 collected after the parade of the Bando.

The four trucks that have served this morning have accumulated 20 tons of waste.

Great reception had the two citizen awareness actions that were launched yesterday with the distribution of 10,000 biodegradable bags of garbage with the slogan 'No seas Marrano' distributed by civic brigades during the morning and the four trucks of the service Cleaning accompanied by operators who distributed another 10,000 backpacks during the parade.

For the cleaning service has been necessary the employment of 94 additional workers added to the 185 operators who normally perform the service in the area and who have managed to restore normal places and streets before noon.

Also, the mechanical means used during this day have been 12 road sweepers, 10 sidewalk sweepers, 7 cuba trucks, 3 bucketloaders, 13 pickup trucks, 11 scrubbers and washer-cleaners.

The areas that have been most affected have been the garden of the Constitution, the Merced, Saavedra Fajardo, the Malecon and FICA.
