Seven routes through the city show the contribution of women in the social, cultural and political past of Murcia (19/04/2017)

Organized by the Department of Social Rights, the next tour will be held on Saturday and will have as a thread the woman as creator of Murcia literature.

The itineraries will help to contemplate education, leisure, culture, street or painting from the perspective of the role of women.

The Council of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz Caballero, in collaboration with the City Museum, has designed seven urban routes with women as protagonists.

Guided tours Plenary Feminine aim to expand and make visible the contribution that women have made to the past of Murcia from the economic, social, cultural and political point of view.

This informative project, which this year celebrates its second edition, aims to "show the feminine view of history and heritage, using the cultural resources of the city," explained Conchita Ruiz.

In this way, the participants will be able to discover aspects related to the literary creation of writers from Murcia, life in convent spaces or the role of women in education.

The routes last two and a half hours, starting at 11 o'clock.

Next Saturday will be held the course called "Literature in Women", which will celebrate the Day of the Book, with the woman's lead as literary protagonist and creator.

To do this, you will visit the City Museum, Escultora Elisa Séiquer Square, Sagasta Street and Martinez Tornel Square.

The itinerary scheduled for May 20 will be "Museums and women.

A complicated relationship, "which will bring the audience inside the Santa Clara Museum and the City.

Coinciding with the Day of Museums, a visit will be made with a critical look at the presence of women in the cultural spaces of the city, both from the view of women in works, pieces and museographic discourses, As well as the presence of the creators in the artistic collections.

Convent spaces, education and leisure, in autumn

After the summer, on September 21, the routes will be resumed with the proposal "Outside the house vs behind the wall", a tour to check the contrast of women's lives behind the wall, the convent spaces of the city, with Women's work away from home;

As well as from the economic sectors that it has traditionally dealt with, including silk, milling and prostitution, among others.

To do this, you will visit the Convent of the Agustinas, the Silk Mill Factory and the Molinos del Río Museum.

"The leisure of / for women" is the title of the itinerary of the walk of October 23, where they will discover the places of leisure in which the woman has had a silent presence and sometimes reduced to specific spaces, Will be protagonists in this journey The Circo and Romea theaters, the Rex Casino and Cinema.

Education in the city has left architectural examples of great value, both artistic and cultural.

II Equal Opportunity Plan

The creation of guided tours 'Feminine Plural' is one of the actions proposed in the II Equality Plan of Opportunities between Women and Men 2017-2019 that is being developed by the City Council, which seeks to guarantee and promote equal rights and opportunities Between women and men from the municipal action.

Among the actions contemplated are the development of training activities in gender matters for all municipal staff, as well as the incorporation of specific equality modules in the different training actions promoted by the City Council through its various councils.

The promotion of a women's entrepreneurship program, the expansion of hours of attention to citizens, the increase in public places for schooling from 0 to 3 years and dependent persons are also part of the hundred proposals incorporated into the plan.
