The Government Board entrusts the projects to build the 20,400 meters of bike lanes foreseen in the plan of action (07/04/2017)

The commitment is to be ready before the end of the year, as announced by Councilor Urban Planning, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, in the presentation of the Action Plan of the Bicycle 2017-2019.

The proposal foresees an investment of 3.7 million euros to create a cycling network inside and outside the urban center, accessing the historic center, and with connections to pedanias.

Before the end of this year, the projects of the new lanes foreseen in the Plan of Action of the Bicycle 2017-2019 will be ready, as announced by Councilor for Urbanism, Environment and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, just two weeks ago.

The Governing Board has given the green light to the proposal to entrust this task to Urbamusa, with the commitment to complete all the work in December.

The total investment amounts to 3.7 million euros and Murcia will win a cycling network of 20,400 linear meters in the city - of which almost 8,5 km are located in the historic center - and 13,000 meters more connection with districts.

The project aims to contribute to the bicycle occupy a prominent place in urban mobility, through the articulation of an authentic vertebrate network of cycling paths that allow to circulate in a safe, useful and accessible.

The configuration of this cycle network runs through the center of the city, bordering and roads and roads connecting with districts and is structured in three areas: urban center, historic center and connections to pedanias.

Urban center environment: 12 kilometers distributed in 37 streets, among them, from Juan Carlos I Avenue to Ronda Levante, May Day, Fame, Ronda Sur or Avenida de Los Dolores, among many others.

Surroundings Historic center: The estimated cycle length is 8,436 linear meters distributed in 27 streets: Mariano Girada, Sagasta, Jara Carrillo, San Nicolás, Riquelme, Alfonso X, Cetina, Salzillo, Plaza Fontes, Mariano Padilla and San Juan de Dios, between Others.

Connections to districts: Arco Norte (Avda. Reino de Murcia, Miguel de Induráin and Los Dolores, with a length of 14 km, currently running) and Arco Sur: Via Dolores-TorreagĂĽera Green, with a length of 8 km and Surroundings acequia Alquibla, with almost 5 km (Carril Alquibla and Carril González).

In total, there are 15 projects planned in three phases.

Thus, in 2017 plans will begin, counting for this with a budget of 1 M €;

In 2018, the action plan foresees completing the cycle lanes of phase I and start the next 6, for a total amount of € 862,000;

And in 2019, with a budget of 1.8 M €, phase II will be completed and the three that are part of the last section will be launched.
