The City Council initiates the procedure to retain payment of invoices to the home assistance company (06/04/2017)

The City of Murcia has begun the procedure to retain the payment of invoices to the company awarded the home help service, due to the non-payment of the wages of its workers, who owe five payrolls.

With this measure, the administration intends to guarantee three extremes:

- The basic labor law of the worker to the perception of punctual of his remuneration

- Avoiding the damage that for the City Council would suppose joint and several liability in the event that such default persisted at the end of the contract

- The overriding public interest represented by the right of users to receive this service

The procedure is set in motion once it has been established that the successful bidder did not appear in the second act of mediation and the municipal services found that the situation of an indefinite strike since March 7 means that 45% Are not receiving the services assigned, except those included as minimum services.

The winning company will have a period of five working days once it receives notification of the decree to present allegations.

At the same time, the City Council has asked the contractor to detail the amount corresponding to salaries pending payment in that period.

The Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, has reported on the implementation of this procedure both the municipal political groups and the works council.
