On Tuesday, April 4, at 7 pm, the presentation of the book "Theory and history of the riddles", by retired Spanish Language Professor Ramón Almela Pérez will take place in the Hemicycle of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Murcia.

In the act intervene, besides the author: the Rector of the UMU José Orihuela;

Pascual Cantos, Dean of the Faculty of Letters;

Carmen Sánchez Manzanares, Coordinator of the Publications Service, and Pablo Pérez Ballester, director of the Library of the University of Murcia.

Published by Editum, Publications Service of the University of Murcia "Theory and history of the riddles", is a book that deals with the riddles of the Spanish language considered popular.

What is studied in the work are not individual riddles, but the type of text known as guessing.

In this work, for the first time in the linguistic literature, a theory of this kind of text is proposed: framework, categories, related types ... The guessing is not a game of words but a game with words that unites Ingenuity and beauty.

According to the author: "The interest in discovering what is described, but not named, is as old as humanity."

The reader will find in this work scientific concepts based on the historical line that links riddles with ancient enigmas (Bible, classic literatures, etc.), the exposition of its main characteristics and a repertoire of 2,000 examples.
