Today is presented at the UMU the book "Great moments lyrical", by Joaquín Gómez (03/04/2017)

Today, Monday, April 3, will be presented in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Law the book "Great moments lyrical", Professor of Medicine at the University of Murcia Joaquin Gomez Gomez.

The event will be held in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Law of the Campus de la Merced at 19:30 hours, and the author will be joined by the Rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela Calatayud, and Carmen Sánchez Manzanares, Coordinator of the UMU Publications Service.

Most of the articles compiled in the book have been published in the press, and relate their experiences "with the close passion of the numerous representations to which the author has attended, a direct and personal presence with eloquent and passionate elaboration", in Words by Juan González Cutillas, Professor of Music.

The author writes his appreciations on heroic lyric, dramatic, light ... "with the wisdom of a connoisseur", and analyzes the great titles of opera, as well as the Spanish zarzuela: "From the popular creations of Verdi and Puccini to wonders From Rossi, Bizet, Cilea, Giordano, Mascagni, Leoncavallo and the Spaniards Vives and Arrieta ", as well as the singing of the tenors that constitute, in the opinion of González Cutillas in the prologue" his authentic passion ".

The publication also includes reflections on singing and opera today.

The author began to form in the opera from 1970, listening in direct voices like those of the Caballé, Lavirgen, Domingo, Pavarotti, Aragall, Carreras, Bergonzi and Kraus.

It was from a relationship with Alfredo Kraus, in April 1991, that Joaquín Gómez decided to write "my comments on the magical nights lived throughout my scientific-lyric life."

The author confesses that in these writings he does not intend to give his personal vision exclusively, but has always tried to have as a fundamental basis the classical principles of true lyric singing.

Joaquín Gómez describes the feelings he experiences before an opera: "At that moment, the clocks stop, the heart stops beating and we lose our breath."
