The International University of the Sea continues advancing in courses and thematic (28/03/2017)

A total of 90 courses will be given by UNIMAR in this edition

About 3,500 students, divided into 90 courses, are expected to reach the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Murcia in the issue number XXXIV, which was presented this morning the Faculty of Sciences of the Company of the UPCT.

The Rectors of both Universities, the mayor of Cartagena, the Minister of Education and the Vice-rectors of Internationalization and Cooperation for Development and of University Extension and Sports of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena intervened in the act.

José Manuel Ferrández Vicente, Vice-Chancellor of Internationalization and Development Cooperation of the UPCT, opened a tour of the Mare Nostrum Campus of Excellence, "a present and a future", which has achieved "a federation of identities and An internationalization of itineraries "," something very useful to attract students from all over the world ".

Ferrández also referred to future projects of the Mare Nostrum Campus, such as the articulation of a legal structure of excellence in the form of a Foundation that allows for joint activities between both universities and open to other countries, such as Algeria, Tunisia, Syria, Iran, United Arab Emirates Or Egypt, and added that the new Horizon 2020 Framework Program will allow significant returns for the Region of Murcia.

Complement the offers of the two universities

Sergio Amat Plata, Vice-Chancellor of University Extension and Sports of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, affirmed that the International University of the Sea is the Union of Universities of Murcia and UPCT, and that its courses aspire to "complement the offers of Teachings of the two universities and their respective university extension courses. He affirmed that the UPCT offers a total of 36 courses in which some 1,100 places are foreseen, while the UMU will organize 54 courses with a total of 1,500 places.

The Minister Maria Isabel Sánchez-Mora congratulated the two universities for the quality and quantity of their courses, which are, he said, of a contrasted quality, and that "are very interested in their current situation."

Universidad del Mar all year round

Orihuela welcomed a new headquarters of the summer courses: Campos del Río, and welcomed the return of another former headquarters that returns this year: La Unión.

A total of 17 municipalities throughout the Region will participate in UNIMAR courses, together with the dependencies of the Ministry of Defense and the sponsors Banco Santander, Fundación Cajamurcia and CAJAMAR.

Alejandro Díaz Morcillo, Vice-Chancellor of the UPCT, concluded that the courses offered by UNIMAR go beyond what the two organizing universities are specialists, for which "we have surrounded ourselves with authentic specialists".

Among the courses organized by his university he emphasized "The cultural legacy of the Enlightenment: from the diffusion of the Antiquity to the intellectual renewal";

"Social and economic history of recent Spain in the European context (1969-2017): from the European Economic Community to the Monetary Union", on the sixtieth anniversary of the creation of the European Union, and another on "The Russian Revolution" In its centenary.

Díaz Morcillo concluded by asserting that the objectives of UNIMAR are clear: "Variety and quality".
