Social Rights designs a social intervention plan to improve family and community conditions in two neighborhoods of Cabezo de Torres (28/03/2017)

The Department of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz, has designed a program of intervention in Cabezas Collao and Cruz, Cabezo de Torres, whose objective is to improve personal, family and community conditions, favoring the social inclusion of people And the development of the territory.

Ruiz has maintained this morning a meeting with the President - Francisco José Viudes - and members of the Municipal Board, to whom he explained in detail the planned action program, which consists of 27 measures to carry out in the family, with Childhood and adolescence, women and community.

The coordination of the project will correspond to the social work unit of Cabezo de Torres, with a professional team composed of a social worker, social educator and administrative assistant.

Los Cabezos Collao and de la Cruz now have high levels of urban vulnerability and housing - with houses that do not meet conditions of habitability and health, situations of overcrowding and lack of facilities, social - difficulties of integration of the immigrant population, Especially women, with high rates of illiteracy and school absenteeism, and young people with minimum levels of employability and economic and labor-with a high level of unemployment and a high percentage of households with all their members unemployed.

Improvements in living conditions

As a result of this preliminary diagnosis, the City Council proposes the development of an urban regeneration plan that improves the conditions of the area of ​​action from the point of view of planning and infrastructures.

Previously, however, the intention is to carry out the social intervention project that directly benefits the living conditions of people living in this environment.

In this way, we will try to identify families at risk of poverty and social exclusion, develop support and accompaniment actions with families of minors and reinforce the follow-up of social itineraries.

In addition, it is proposed the realization of group workshops with families, parental education workshops for mothers or young parents and guidance for labor insertion, along with family mediation where necessary.

The intervention plan for children and adolescents includes the development of workshops with minors with a high level of absenteeism and school drop-out, the promotion of early schooling, the management and processing of resources and assistance and advice on the provision of educational resources and Labor insertion.

Educational reinforcement

Likewise, a project of work with adolescents will be implemented, aimed at young people who left their studies prematurely so that they can obtain a degree, and leisure and leisure activities will be developed during extra-school hours and vacations, among other measures.

In the case of women, the proposal of the Council of Social Rights foresees to carry out training activities for the immigrant population, employability programs and prevention of conduct against gender violence.

Finally, at the community level, a motor group will be created to promote the intervention project, as well as to promote intercultural mediation activities, to organize community activities that promote participation and to develop awareness campaigns.
