The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Minister of Fomento e Infraestructuras, Pedro Rivera, visited this morning the beginning of works of this infrastructure, which involves an investment of 1,720,000 euros by the Ministry, and has a term Of execution of 4 months.
The roundabout is located at the intersection of the RM-300 (Murcia-Los Ramos), RM-F9 (La Machacanta-Tocinos Bridge), T-300 (connecting the intersection with Beniaján) and the lane leading to Restaurant Rincón Huertano and Beniaján.
During the visit, José Ballesta stressed that "this is one of the points with the highest traffic intensity of the municipality, which records between 10,000 and 15,000 vehicles a day.
The work will not only provide much safer access to Beniaján, but will also benefit the villages of TorreagĂźera, Los Ramos, Alquerías and Zeneta, as well as Los Dolores and Puente Tocinos, that is, encompassing population centers of between 50,000 and 100,000 habitants".
In this sense, the mayor stressed "the social profitability" of the work, a "necessary" infrastructure that will improve road safety in a conflict that will benefit all the residents of the surrounding districts.
The roundabout will improve mobility, traffic and road safety in this area, by replacing the current intersection, regulated by traffic lights, by a roundabout that will facilitate all the turns.
For its part, the councilor Pedro Rivera stressed that "is a very busy crossing and widely used by neighbors in the area to access homes and businesses in Beniaján, TorreagĂźera, Los Ramos, Alquerías and Zeneta, and it was necessary to undertake a performance to Improve road safety in this area. "
The new roundabout will have an exterior radius of 41 meters, two lanes of four meters wide around and exterior and interior shoulders of one meter, and will be completed with signaling, marking and replacement of existing services.
Also, inside the gazebo will be installed new lighting, with a central staff of 10 meters in height and four luminaires, to ensure visibility.

Bus stop on the road linking Murcia with Los Ramos
The project includes the construction of a bus stop on the road RM-300, linking Murcia with Los Ramos, Murcia-Beniaján direction, in front of the bus stop that already exists, and to facilitate access to travelers will be signaled A step of pedestrians with traffic light regulation.
During the works works will be signaled conveniently but it will not be necessary to cut off the traffic, nor will there be alternative traffic diversions.
