The Governing Council of the UMU approves an investment of 17.4 million euros for the campus of Health Sciences (28/03/2017)

The Governing Council of the University of Murcia (UMU) has approved a multi-year expenditure, for a total amount of 17.4 million euros, for the construction of classrooms and laboratories of student practices in the campus of Health Sciences, in The Palmar.

The construction project now underway, which replaces another one that was approved in 2014, involves the construction of one more plant and other improvements that were not contemplated in the initially planned building.

In addition, as explained by the Vice Chancellor of Economy, Sustainability and Health Sciences, José María Abellán, optimizes the facilities and increases the surface area, which goes from 14,300 square meters to almost 17,000.

The building, which will have great versatility, according to Abellán has said, will also have, among other units, seven teaching simulation rooms.

The multi-year expenditure approved by the Governing Council foresees an investment close to three million euros in the current year;

8.7 million in 2018, and 5.8 million in 2019.

On the other hand, this governing body of the UMU has approved, on the proposal of the Vice-Rector of Training and Innovation, Pedro Miralles, the call for aid to the teaching innovation groups, with a thousand teachers, and that the Next April.

The call involves an investment of 400,000 euros.
