Let's change Murcia will ask the Plenary this Thursday that the City Council will sign a collaboration agreement with the University of Murcia (UMU) to ensure that the Volunteer Fair of this educational center is developed in the city.
The training, through the motion of its councilor, Margarita Guerrero, recalled that the Service of Diversity and Volunteering (ADYV) of the UMU, which collaborates about 1,800 people per academic year, aims to promote Social intervention programs, guidance, counseling and community health, among others, as well as values ​​of justice, solidarity and integration.
The role of this service, created in 2012 from the merger of two other long-standing services at the UMU, was recently highlighted with the recognition of the Laurel Award from the Federation of Persons with Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy of the Region of Murcia , For their work in the field of labor integration.
Guerrero has emphasized the importance of the University in the development of society, both in the field of training and in relation to the promotion of values ​​that promote a more just and solidary system.
In this sense, the UMU, which has more than 30,000 students enrolled, "fulfills both missions," said Guerrero.
The work of volunteering has been recognized by the UN as a measure to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
