The Town Hall tendered the first garden of Murcia River putting in value the Alameda of the Four Stones converting it into a zone of connection between the Malecon and the river (24/03/2017)

The project contemplates the recovery of a mall on the riverbank, the planting of traditional mulberry trees in La Huerta, and the creation of a naturalized, efficient and intelligent garden with illuminated pedestrian paths.

The works will be developed in consonance with the university experts in recovery of forest of bank

The Government Board has approved the specifications to contract the construction of the garden of the Alameda de las Cuatro Piedras, on the Paseo del Malecón, and is the first of the gardens that are part of the project 'Murcia River'.

In this way it is sought to put in value this municipal plot and offer it to the Murcia.

The aim of this work is to create a visual and transit communication between the Paseo del Malecón and the Segura River, restoring the landscape of the area and recovering a mall along the riverbank.

The works recover the original topography of the area using the irrigation ditch of La Arboleja, which runs through the plot, for the irrigation of the various terraces where a large number of plantations of native species will be carried out.

Thus, two large central areas will be devoted to the planting of mulberry trees of the traditional varieties of the Huerta (Christian, Macocana and Valenciana) on which will extend a surface of Sevillian albero, while in the southern half, has been reserved A large area destined to the plantation of a mall that helps to recover this woodland of the bank, choosing the autochthonous variety 'Populus Alba' (white poplar).

In order to bridge the gap between the plot and both accesses (north and south), stepped pedestrian routes have been planned, along with those that run ramps that ensure the necessary accessibility to all citizens.

This unevenness, which could cause drawbacks in the design, has been used for the planting of floral species on terraces, so that the difference in height has been integrated into the design of the public space of the new garden.

In addition, all the land will be furrowed by paved road in sienna agglomerate to establish pedestrian routes, which will be illuminated at night time.

It will also proceed to the replacement of existing pavement in the environment by a new pavement pavement that invites users to walk around the new green area.

Smart garden

Lastly, and within the Murcia Smart City project, it is planned to install sensors that will take data on temperature, or humidity that will allow to decide if it is necessary to irrigate the plantation, as well as detect leaks in the network.

In addition, the public lighting network will be managed in an automated way, which will allow, for example, that the luminaires are switched off or in a low-power mode and that, when users are detected, automatically increase the intensity of light emitted.

The budget amounts to 235,981 euros and the works have a term of execution of four months.
