The PSOE criticizes the loss of purchasing power of pensioners and asks that their extras are not taken into account to pay for the residences (23/03/2017)

The Socialist Municipal Group has criticized the loss of purchasing power of pensioners, whose incomes have been updated below the CPI, and also have to pay fees and co-payments from those previously exempt.

Therefore, it requests that the extra payments of this sector of the population do not have repercussion in the calculation of their monthly contributions to residences of majors.

In this regard, Councilor Maite Espinosa, who will defend a motion in the next plenary on this issue, says that "pensioners, like other sectors of the population with less purchasing power, are the great victims of the crisis, although the saddest thing is That even if the economy improves, if it improves, it will be difficult to return to the moment before the crisis, especially if the administrations do not strive and focus on rescuing these citizens.

Specifically, he points out that the users of these residences of the elderly are a particularly vulnerable group, which has seen its buying power weakened by the numerous cuts and legislative changes suffered over the years.

To this, he explains, "it must be added that the income of the pensioners have become the sustenance, unique in many cases, for entire families victims of unemployment."

Espinosa recalls that the inclusion of the extra payments in the calculation for the payment of the residence of the elderly is due to the law of 6/2012 of June 29 on tax, social, economic and administrative measures of the Region of Murcia, which amended Decree 12/2010, which only took into account the twelve ordinary payments of the year.

Likewise, it warns that last January the regional government paid the debt of the extraordinary payment to the officials of the autonomous community, forgetting the users of the residences that were affected by the same law and that to date, have not Once this loss of rights has been restored.

"It is clear that the privileges and rights, which have meant a social conquest of many years and have been cut in this last stage of the PP government, will be difficult to recover for millions of citizens, so these cuts are a step backwards for our Society, "he adds.

For all these reasons, the councilor will ask the plenary to raise the regional government to carry out the necessary procedures so that the users of the public residences, public and concerted, recover their extraordinary payments, not being subject to the basis of calculation that determines The monthly contributions per resident's place.
