The facade of the Annex Building will light up red on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day (23/03/2017)

The City Council, through the Department of Development, headed by Roque Ortiz, will illuminate the façade of the Annex Building next Friday, March 24, World TB Day, in an action promoted by the Stop TB Alliance throughout the country. As part of the "Ignite the World for Tuberculosis" initiative.

The special illumination can be contemplated from 19.30 to 1 hours approximately.

With this action, Murcia joins other cities that will red stain their most emblematic buildings to raise awareness of a disease that has become the infectious disease that causes the greatest number of deaths in the world, 1.5 million in 2015, Overcoming AIDS.

In addition, it has a strong socioeconomic bias, and although everyone can become infected, Stop TB warns that they are the ones who have the least sufferers, since in many cases they can not access a diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the disease.

Tuberculosis can be cured, but in spite of this, there are still more than a million people who annually die from not having access to an appropriate medication, causing the death of three people every minute.

The initiative is promoted by the Stop TB Partnership, founded in 2001 with the mission of serving all people vulnerable to TB and ensuring that diagnosis, treatment and care are available to all who need it.
