Technicians of Urbanism and Education work to restore the normality in the school 'Juuitsinas' (20/03/2017)

José Ballesta visits the Santa Maria de La Paz center after the fire that he suffered in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday and has forced to suspend today and tomorrow classes.

The teachers of the center, on a voluntary basis, are carrying out soot cleaning work.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, Rafael Gómez, visited this morning the Santa María de La Paz College, 'Jesuitinas', after the fire in the early hours of Saturday morning Sunday and that has forced to suspend today and tomorrow the classes.

The teachers of the center, voluntarily and led by its director, Antonio Grau, are carrying out cleaning of the soot that has affected the corridor and the adjoining rooms to the classroom of 5º Course of the first plant, the place most affected by The flames.

José Ballesta wanted to "thank the work of the municipal services that are working to restore normalcy in the school since, at two in the morning from Saturday to Sunday, Local Police and Firefighters received the notice and immediately appeared in the Center, where they have continued working until today. "

Also, municipal technicians of the Councils of Urbanism and Education are collaborating with the center from the first hour, in coordination with the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, to restore normality as soon as possible.

"We are in complete disposition of what the school indicates to us", underlined the mayor.

Classes are expected to resume on Wednesday

It is expected that the more than 1,100 students of the center will be able to return to the classroom next Wednesday, since the first evaluations indicate that there have not been major structural damages, although always confirmed by the final inspections of the technicians.

The school will relocate 5th graders to other classrooms in the center.

For now, the origin of the fire is unknown.
