The Department of Traffic and Public Safety, directed by Lola Sánchez, will carry out the semaphorization works of several public roads in order to improve road safety in four areas of the municipality.
This project includes solutions to various proposals collected by the Traffic Service of the municipal technicians themselves, District and Municipal Boards, as well as individuals, who have been prioritized according to parameters of road safety, pedestrian safety and number of affected users.
The actions contemplate the implementation of new semaphore installations and reforms and modification of traffic lights to improve the safety of pedestrians, trying to interfere in the least possible traffic.
The areas where action will be taken to improve road safety are integrated in the road network of the urban area of ​​the city and districts and are as follows:
Ronda Sur - Patiño Road: It is proposed to semaphore the existing pedestrian crossings at the crossing of the South Ronda with the Patino road and to create a new pedestrian crossing in Felix Rodríguez de la Fuente street to complete the crossing and improve safety Of the pedestrian itinerary.
New attack on Tomillo street in El Palmar: improving road safety in the surroundings of CEIP Santa Rosa de Lima.
Installation of pedestrian crossing in the avenue of Lorca with Calle Virgen de Belén de Sangonera la Seca: a complete traffic light with pedestrian crossings is planned, which will improve the mobility of the area where a school center (Pablo Gil Castillo) coexists, stops Bus and high traffic density.
New traffic light installation on Pío Baroja Avenue with Ramón del Valle Inclan Street: improved pedestrian road safety with the traffic lights of pedestrians crossing this street with 4 lanes of traffic, which has a high pedestrian and round intensity, and The transit of schoolchildren from IES Floridablanca and Saavedra Fajardo, as well as the school Mariano Aroca that are in the vicinity.
This execution is contemplated the centralization of this crossing with the Traffic Control Room to improve the management of the crossing and adapt it to the demand of the circulation.
The expected execution time is three months and the investment is 63,120 euros.
