The University of Murcia promotes its Platform for Social Action (15/03/2017)

The University of Murcia (UMU) today presented in the Rector of the institution the new stage of its Platform for Social Action, which will be led by the teachers Encarna Bas and Francisca Ferrando.

Integrated in the Vicerrectorado of Social Responsibility, Transparency and Equality, the Platform aims to create a meeting space between the UMU, Third Sector organizations, companies and other entities to promote a society based on the values ​​of freedom, justice, Equality and pluralism.

During the presentation ceremony, presided over by the rector of the University, Jose Orihuela, before numerous representatives of the organizations participating in the Platform, the coordinators of the same have exposed the main lines of the Plan of Action of this, focused on the struggle Against inequality, discrimination and social exclusion.

The Plan includes awareness-raising activities in campaigns, conferences, exhibitions, round tables, information sessions, discussion forums and thematic breakfasts, as well as the launching of a portal of donations and recognition to individuals and entities that stand out for their Commitment and work in social action.

Likewise, the Plan includes the promotion of training, university and business volunteering and open lines of applied research to the challenges of society, such as unemployment, poverty, racism, xenophobia, discrimination and environmental sustainability, among others.

The event was attended by the Vice-rector of Social Responsibility, Transparency and Equality, María del Carmen López Aniorte, and the Cajamurcia Foundation manager, Pascual Martínez, sponsor of the Platform.
