The City encourages the Murcia to find out and know their rights on Consumer Day (15/03/2017)

José Ballesta and Maruja Pelegrín award the School Poster Contest for the World Day of Consumer Rights.

The City Council today has enabled an information booth in Santo Domingo to remember that there are four Municipal Offices of Consumer Information: one in the city and three in districts.

From these offices we offer personalized attention and guidance on the procedures necessary to request the return of the 'floor clause', among other steps

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Councilor for Trade, Organization and Institutional Relations, Maruja Pelegrín, gave today the awards of the School Poster Contest for the World Day of Consumer Rights, held under the motto 'We are all consumers' and has made it possible to transfer to the classrooms the importance of safe, responsible and sustainable consumption.

The winner of the first prize was Mario Moreno Ruiz, 6ºA, Santa Maria de la Paz school, who has received a commemorative plaque and a laptop;

While second place went to Miguel Campoy Vecina, 6ºA, of the AYS Education Center, who in addition to the plate has received a Tablet.

The mayor highlighted the originality and quality of the drawings presented and encouraged the schoolchildren of both educational centers who gathered in the Plenary Hall to know and claim their rights as consumers from childhood.

Four Municipal Consumer Information Offices

In addition to this event, coinciding with the World Day of Consumer Rights, which is being held today, the Department of Commerce, Organization and Institutional Relations has enabled an information booth in the Plaza de Santo Domingo, which will remain open this Tuesday, Opening hours from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This initiative reminds consumers and users that they have at their disposal a total of four Municipal Offices of Consumer Information: one in Murcia city and three in districts, to minimize the number of displacements and that the neighbors can go to the most Near your home.

In the Municipal Offices of Consumer Information, all citizens "can formulate their complaints, complaints, queries and complaints about consumption, receiving information and personalized advice," said the mayor.

Specifically, the office of Murcia is located in the street Saavedra Fajardo, in front of the Plaza de Europa with a schedule of attention from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 14:00 hours;

In Cabezo de Torres, at Calle Carmen, 3, on Tuesdays from 09:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.;

In El Palmar on Calle Mayor, open on Thursdays from 09:00 to 14:00 hours;

And in Beniaján, located at Estación street, on Fridays from 09:00 to 14:00.

Query increases, but claims drop

During the year 2016, 2,724 complaints were registered in the Municipal Office of Consumer Information (OMIC) in Murcia, 16% less than in 2015, although the consultations attended increased significantly in relation to the previous year, accounting for 8,360 compared to 7,000 2015.

The main reason for making different complaints or claims during 2016 has been fixed telephony and, above all, mobile, followed by issues related to department stores, banks, electricity, insurance, appliances, passenger transport And vehicles.

Personalized attention for the return of the 'floor clause'

In addition, in recent months there has been an increase in requests for information on the procedures for requesting the return of the 'floor clause'.

Problems have also been the subject of consultations or complaints with employees of gas, telephone and electricity companies, travel agency services, water and gas supplies, accommodation, food, parking, academies, entertainment and recreational activities, gas stations, Sports facilities, textiles, dry cleaners, freight transport, etc.
