Murcia wins positions as a Tourist Destination of Quality and is placed as the seventh city of Spain (13/03/2017)

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesús Pacheco, and the Councilor for Commerce, Maruja Pelegrín, today presented the plaque that credits Espinosa Confectionery as a company committed to Tourism Quality , One of more than 100 establishments in Murcia, which celebrates 10 years since the introduction of this badge in the municipality, with the first companies and recognized services.

The event was attended by representatives of the Regional Federation of Entrepreneurs of Hospitality and Tourism (Hostemur) and members of Associations of Merchants in the neighborhood of Carmen.

In addition to Espinosa, this past year 2016 the Secretary of State for Tourism has awarded the seal of Tourism Quality to 16 establishments and today also have Plates of Quality Tourism in the Teatro Circo de Murcia and the Museum of Science and Water, Which renews its distinction after 10 years consolidated as a tourist benchmark.

"Murcia is ranked number seven in Spain as a Tourist Destination of Quality, a list of 209 cities, thanks to the work of companies and professionals from different sectors: from museums and tourist guides to taxi drivers, confectioners, restaurants and small Businesses, "said the mayor.

The 101 establishments and services distinguished in the year 2016 represent an increase of 11% with respect to the previous year.

In addition, 13% of the establishments are certified with the Q of Tourist Quality.

"There are more and more companies and tourist services in Murcia that are part of this 'club of tourism excellence' and, with their high levels of quality in products, services and customer service, help to position Murcia as A tourist destination of reference, "said José Ballesta, who added that" when a tourist comes to our city, an image is formed that influences all kinds of factors with which to work in a coordinated way, establishing synergies between different sectors To achieve their satisfaction ".

Ten Years Extending Quality

During the ten years that Murcia is part of the Destination Quality System (SICTED), important efforts have been made to extend and consolidate the culture of quality, carrying out an intense awareness and training of the agents involved, both in the public domain As private.

In fact, the City of Murcia received in the past edition of FITUR the award for the management of the (SICTED), an award granted by the Ministry of Tourism, under the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda.

The City Council was awarded as the first finalist, in the category Best Manager SICTED 2016, "in recognition of the work and effort in favor of quality, through the development and implementation of this system in the companies and tourist services of the destination Murcia."

The Secretary of State for Tourism took into account the seniority of the manager in the project in Murcia, her participation in working groups and the index of participating companies, as well as the training actions and organized workshops, the technical assistance visits carried out and the Participation in the evaluation of tourism companies and services.
