The University of Murcia (UMU) has hosted the awards ceremony of the fourth edition of the Philosophical Olympiad of the Region, in which students from the 4th year of ESO and Bachillerato of 21 educational centers participated.
The event, which was held at the Faculty of Philosophy, was presided over by the Dean of this center, Antonio Campillo, and Professor Emilio Martínez, who presented the awards in the modalities of Philosophical Dissertation, Moral Dilemma and Philosophical Photography.
In the Dissertation category, the first prize went to Gabriel José Carrión Pérez, from the San Pedro Apóstol School in San Pedro del Pinatar, followed by Elena Solano Aroca, IES Miguel Espinosa from Murcia and Lorenzo Baño Sánchez from IES Salvador Sandoval Of Torres de Cotillas.
In Moral Dilemma, the first was for student Jorge García Inglés, IES La Basilica (Algezares);
The second prize, David Lax Camacho, from the Salvador Sandoval Institute, and the third from Carmen Hernández González, IES alum Antonio Menárguez Costa (Los Alcazares).
Ángel Navarro Serrano, from the IES Ramón y Cajal de Murcia, won first place in Photography, while José Manuel López Manzanera, IES Marqués de los Vélez (El Palmar), and Pedro Gil García, IES Infanta Elena de Jumilla , Respectively.
The first classified in the three categories will be selected to represent the Region in the national phase of the Olympiad, which in this edition will take place in Murcia on 5 and 6 May.
The Olympiad in its autonomic phase has been organized by a group of Philosophy professors with the support of the Faculty of the UMU, the Society of Philosophy of the Region of Murcia and the Center of Philosophy for Children.
It is sponsored by the Seneca Foundation and the Diego Marín bookstore.
