The Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, said during the Amnesty International meeting, framed within the 'I welcome' campaign, that "in the last two years, the municipality of Murcia has welcomed about two hundred refugees who Have fled their countries for ideological, religious or armed conflicts. "

"Of the 180 people in the municipality, 12 belong to the resettled families who came from a refugee camp in Greece," Ruiz Caballero said.

The head of Social Rights has recalled that "since September 2015 is set in motion the Office of Assistance to the refugee, which channels aid and solidarity in the crisis caused by the war in Syria."

The office, which is part of the network of primary care for social services, explained Ruiz Caballero, "also fulfills the function of coordinating municipal actions developed to support the people in our municipality and with the NGOs responsible for their care ".

From the City Hall, Ruiz has also listed, that "we have organized various events in collaboration with the Shelter Platform of Murcia, such as food collection campaign and health products intended for refugee camps in Syria."

In addition, he said that "of the four associations that work in the reception of refugees (ACCEM, Red Cross, Cepaim and Murcia Acoge), has been Red Cross which has attended a greater number of people with a total of 80, followed Of ACCEM with 63, Cepaim 27 and 10 Murcia Acoge.
