HUERMUR denounces the City Council for the installation of innumerable light poles, aerial cables, and electrical boxes in the protected garden of Floridablanca.
Members of the association visited in the morning of today the Floridablanca Garden to check first hand the landscape damage caused to this historic garden started Well of Cultural Interest.
HUERMUR urges the Consistory to dismantle immediately these electrical elements contrary to the Law of Historical Heritage, and which involve a very serious landscape attack.
The Association for the Conservation of the Orchard of Murcia (HUERMUR) has denounced the Murcia City Council in the Directorate General of Cultural Property of the CARM for the placement of innumerable posts, aerial cables and electrical boxes that seriously damage the Floridablanca Garden.
Garden opened for Cultural Interest (BIC) with the category of historic garden after the request of HUERMUR in 2013.
For the conservationist association and promoter of the BIC, the Murcian Consistory has passed the line allowing the installation of hundreds of meters of cables, dozens of poles and electrical boxes in the historic Carmelite garden.
Damaging installations that add to a long list of threats that fly over this well-known garden of the capital, such as the construction of the Circular-Barrio del Carmen tram line, which will seriously disturb this BIC and its urban landscape.
According to HUERMUR, this installation of distorting elements in the BIC of Floridablanca may be a violation of article 38 of Law 4/2007 on Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, which stipulates that "In real estate of cultural interest not Fixed advertising may be installed by means of billboards or posters, cables, antennas and anything that impedes or impairs the appreciation of the good. "
According to research carried out by HUERMUR this installation of numerous electrical elements in the BIC, may be due to the realization of an upcoming event within the Garden of Floridablanca, promoted by a company and the City of Murcia.
Also HUERMUR has requested to Culture all the necessary permissions for the celebration of these events inside the BIC of the garden, and has been personified in all the files related with it.
"This is a further attack against the cultural heritage of Murcia and its Murcia, this time it has been the historic Floridablanca Garden to be sewn to cables, posts and innumerable electrical boxes," said Sergio Pacheco, President of HUERMUR.
In the same way he also added that "we will get to the bottom of this matter, we will appear in all the files that are necessary and we will request immediately the withdrawal of all cables, boxes and posts nailed to this protected garden."
From HUERMUR we do not understand that the City of Murcia promotes and the Ministry of Culture consents a new visual and aesthetic aggression to a protected monument, instead of promoting its conservation and valorization once and for all.
