The councilman of Cambiemos Murcia Sergio Ramos said today that he hopes that the Week of the Orchard will help the City Council "to take seriously" the fundamental problems of the garden and its protection with the implementation of measures such as the revision of the Plan General of Urban Planning and the protection of the ditch net.
For Ramos, it is "contradictory" that the municipal government organize activities in the name of the defense of the orchard while many natural spaces of the municipality are suffering the consequences of the "neglect and disinterest of the PP."
As examples, he mentioned the construction in these days of two concrete bridges over the main Aljufía ditch, from the IX-X centuries.
Some works that contravene the Ordinances and Customs of the Garden in its article 28, as they have not been approved by the corresponding Joint as required by municipal regulations, as explained by the mayor.
Another area of ​​the affected orchard that has stood out the municipalist formation is the House of Antonete Gálvez in Torreaguëra, a building of the XVIII-XIX centuries protected by the Catalog of the General Plan that suffers a significant deterioration before the lack of protection and the construction of A supermarket in the surroundings.
In addition, the mayor has drawn attention to one of the walks organized in the framework of the Semana de la Huerta, in particular a guided tour of the Old Mill of the Gunpowder, because there are also being carried out works in the environment that Jeopardize this space of great scenic value.
