The Governing Board has approved the assignment of two new homes by the Department of Patrimony to the Department of Social Rights, to allow the comprehensive care of women victims of gender violence.

From the Department of Social Rights, directed by Conchita Ruiz Caballero, the service provides integral attention to situations of gender violence in the municipality, counting on a multi-professional team specialized in these interventions, coordinated by the head of section and Composed of a psychologist, a legal counselor, four social educators and a part-time social worker.

These two homes are in addition to the two that the City Council already has for housing of women and their sons and daughters who need protection and specialized intervention so require.

This resource is integrated in the Regional and National network of attention to victims of gender violence, the attention is directed to women of the municipality of Murcia and their minor children, who are welcomed with them.

The origin of the cases can also be of other municipalities of the region or of other autonomous communities, that for needs of protection are derived to our municipality.

Among other objectives, this action of shelters includes, with the victims, a new way to recover and train them, since not only do they have to overcome the negative effects of the situations experienced, they also have to face and overcome the uprooting that It means abandoning your previous life, your environment, home, friends and family, etc., and start a new life.

The intervention, in addition to ensuring protection and recovery from the aftermath of violence, seeks to achieve the emotional, social and economic independence of the aggressor, training women with the skills and tools that enable them to develop an autonomous life .

This process is done in a personalized way, adapting the resources and interventions to the needs of each woman and her family nucleus.
