The fifth edition of the Day of Management of the Integral Cycle of Water and the Environment was held this morning in the auditorium of the UCAM and was attended by the president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, Miguel Ródenas, who Has been accompanied by the Deputy Dean of Civil Engineering Degree, Pedro de los Santos Jiménez and the Vice Rector of Research at the University, Estrella Núñez.

Ródenas said that "in the Segura Basin, more than 100 million cubic meters of water are reused, one of the largest volumes in the world, but It's not enough. "Our deficit is not covered by that."

He added that "a national hydrological plan is needed".

In addition, he explained that it is necessary to reuse water resources: "We must use wastewater, well treated, to give greater guarantee and reduce the water deficit in Murcia."

On the other hand, the Dean of Degree in Civil Engineering of the University has insisted on the need to "take advantage of new technologies to manage water more efficiently".

However, has clarified that "the Autonomous Community of Murcia is leading in the regeneration and purification of water, as we have more than 90 water treatment plants and 45 pumping stations."
