Let's change Murcia has launched a campaign titled 'I am not a toy, I am part of the family', which will be extended during these holidays, to encourage adoption instead of buying pets.
For the campaign, the municipal training has collected more than 130 photographs of people accompanied by animals that later has spread through Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #NoCompresAdopta.
The objective, in the words of the councilor Margarita Guerrero, is "to raise public awareness of the responsibility of holding animals."
"They are not objects that you can change if you do not like them or forget them. Your life is not merchandise that can be bought and sold," Guerrero said.
The mayor has denounced that the Government team has not fulfilled the commitment approved in the Animal Welfare Bureau, proposed by Cambiemos, for the development of a municipal campaign that encourages adoption and avoid the purchase of animals as "a gift " in these dates.
"We must not forget that the City Council has a responsibility to raise public awareness, especially with this issue," said Guerrero, after recalling that the municipality has high rates of abandonment.
