This morning the Hall of Acts of the Catholic University of Murcia has hosted an exhibition debate, organized by the Spanish Forum of Debate of the UCAM, in which participants do not know the subject until 15 minutes before starting the same.
In this case, the theme to be debated was "Do you think Donald Trump should build the wall of Mexico?"
Verónica Salinas Perea, a student of the Law Degree and president of the Spanish Forum of Debate UCAM, commented that "with this exhibition debate we want to make known what we do in the Spanish forum, so that the people of the University, not only In this exhibition, not only have students participated, but also invited to the event as Javier Arapuerta, the third best speaker in the world, and also the students, as well as teachers, know exactly what a university debate consists of in a fun, dynamic and deeply argumentative way. Juan Antonio Megías, professor of Constitutional Law and academic director of the UCAM Debate Club, said: "It is very important for students to be part of a project like this because what is done in the Spanish Forum of Debate of the UCAM, as in many other debate clubs that already have other universities in Spain, is to practice the art of speaking well, speaking in public.
For his part, Pablo Blesa, vice-rector of International Relations at UCAM, spoke about how widespread this practice of debate in universities in other countries as in the United States or England "what we want is to promote in our University a core training Extracurricular, led by students in a transversal way, since we have students of Architecture, Criminology, Law, Communication or Psychology.
