The City of Murcia makes the campaign "Old is cool" on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons (28/09/2016)

Grandparents and children are the protagonists of the campaign which ends on 9 October in Santo Domingo, where they can get a picture together.

The full City Council joins the celebration with the reading of an institutional statement in recognition of the Elderly

Murcia held on Saturday October 1 the International Day of Older Persons and for this, the City of Murcia has launched the "Old is cool", through the Department of Social Rights who directs Conchita Ruiz, especially addressed to young audience.

The initiative begins today, September 28, at the Senior Center of San Miguel (Murcia) where a photo session with elderly is done, in order that they are the elderly themselves of Murcia participants and protagonists of the campaign .

This photo shoot images will be obtained for the poster campaign, which recognizes the largest of Murcia pursued.

On Friday October 7, a tent will be installed in the Plaza Santo Domingo for the little ones attend with their grandparents / ace and can take a souvenir photograph of a fun together.

This activity will be available until Sunday 9 October.

"This campaign aims to raise awareness, especially smaller ones, how important are the elderly in our society and who identify with them, accentuating the feeling of value and respect for elders" explained Councilwoman Social rights, Conchita Ruiz.

Thus, some fundamental objectives of her Department of Social Rights in the area of ​​Elders are achieved.

On the one hand, participation and the role of older people in their social environment, and on the other, helps them maintain a positive attitude in life, feel useful, relate to other people and improve their quality of life.

Institutional statement in plenary

Also in the morning plenary, an Institutional Declaration that "the important role of older people in the development of society" is recognized it will be read.

"Aging is linked to the development and healthy older people are a resource for their families, their communities and the economy," adds the document presented a proposal from the Department of Social Rights.

Institutional Declaration also recognizes the need to support families in situations of dependency of the elderly, with home care first, and temporary or permanent equipment when required, where quality care is guaranteed.

Similarly, the Municipal Corporation recognizes the value of social centers for the elderly and municipal social facilities for the integral development of individuals, promoting their participatory integration into their social environment.
