"Let's go for a region that is socially responsible territory" (09/09/2016)

During the event also unveiled the Master in Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Corporate Diplomacy which begins in late October

"Today is an important day for this university because we have created a plural forum, open to all political, economic and social sensitivities of the Region of Murcia".

With these words began his speech Victor Meseguer, Director of the Chair RSC-UCAM, referring to the presentation of the Open Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility of the Catholic University of Murcia.

Before an auditorium packed with representatives of foundations and NGOs, public administration business policy, and members of the Catholic, Meseguer has defined this new commitment of the UCAM as a space to exchange experiences, good practices and work on the line bet on a region that is respectful of individual and collective rights of individuals in social action.

"We have become the UCAM today in the capital of Corporate Social Responsibility", he noted, and "let's go for a region that is socially responsible territory".

The founding members of the Forum are: José Luis Mendoza Garcia, director of Institutional Relations of the UCAM;

Gonzalo Wandosell, Vice Dean of Business Administration and Management;

Juan Antonio Pedroza, president of Social Economy Europe, CEPES, COCETA, UCOMUR and UCOERM;

Rosa Cano, director of the Association Columbares;

Juan Antonio Segura, director of the CEPAIM Foundation and member of the Advisory Council of the Esplai Foundation and the State NGO Platform for Social Action;

Pedro César Martínez López, director of Fundown and member of the Standing Committee of the State Platform Third Sector;

Lucio Fernández López, director of HR and CSR Redyser and member of the Board of Dirse;

Fulgencio Madrid Conesa, president of the Spanish Federation of Associations of Aid Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Victor Meseguer.

During the ceremony, which also involved José Luis Mendoza, president of the University;

Juan Hernandez, Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment of the CARM;

and Juan Antonio Pedroza, president of UCOMUR, has signed an agreement with UCOMUR and presented the Master in Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Corporate Diplomacy UCAM starting this course.

Mendoza recalled that the UCAM, since its inception, is a university in the service of society, of the person.

One example is its support for many social organizations working with people with disabilities as well as organizations working to eradicate poverty and social exclusion;

or support the sport, promoting athletes, model for young people to bet on a healthier life and the effort and sacrifice in pursuit of their goals.

For his part, Minister Juan Hernandez congratulated the UCAM, through its Chairs in CSR and Social Economy, and UCOMUR for this initiative "is quite important from the point of view of supporting a new dimension that must give companies not only comply with the law, but to go further and be responsible to the whole society ".

Hernandez recalled that the social economy accounts for 4% of GDP in the region.

"We are a reference to national and international level so it will be important not only to improve the social and economic environment, but to make our companies much stronger social economy", he added referring to the constitution of this new Forum.

From UCOMUR, its president, Juan Antonio Pedroza, has stated that corporate social responsibility defines a model leader.

"Markets need more transparency and a more social conception companies. If the economy is not at the service of the person loses its meaning."

On the agreement signed with the Catholic University of Murcia he has said that "we will help spread the values ​​of social responsibility" and has advanced further "we as an organization will launch a side project to disseminate CSR in schools and teaching unions ".

Necessary training in CSR

The Master in Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Corporate Diplomacy UCAM, which will begin in late October, will provide an opportunity for all those people, whether professional, directors CSR both companies and NGOs, foundations and own public administration or interested in the subject, who want to train "quality" in the area of ​​corporate social responsibility.
