The Doors'Underwaterphantoms' Center hosts Castilla, a sound installation and performance Barbara Ellison (08/09/2016)

This afternoon, at 20 hours, opens at the Puertas de Castilla 'Underwaterphantoms', the artist Barbara Ellison, a specific project created for the main hall of the center Centro.

At the opening Ellison will present its live sound work in the auditorium of the Center Doors Castilla within the experimenters cycle in the Music Library, curated by Francisco Lopez.

The sound installation 'Underwaterphantoms' manages to create environments artificially constructed from video projections and recordings of underwater sound material.

From an original sound source rebuilt several sound layers, the material of the recordings that make up 'Underwaterphantoms' invite the viewer to explore the illusory perception of our environment and the real.

This assembly, which will be open until November, is set to the viewer as a set of rituals, hypnotic and repetitive forms, aspiring to create a ghostly patterns in the spectral domain.

The practice and research of this work part of the natural environment, which has taken him to places like the Arctic (2010), the Amazon, Brazil (2011), Svaneti, Georgia (2012), Borneo (2012), South Africa ( 2013), Iceland, Australia (2013), Japan (2014), Bolivia, Chile and Utah, USA (2015).

Barbara Ellison is a visual artist and sound Irish who lives and works in The Hague.

His practice is interdisciplinary and explored through different means a world where perceptual ambiguity reigns, and where our propensity and desire to find meaning is revealed, often illusory, from perceptual patterns in our environment.

His performances and projects are manifested through various media platforms and hybrid (digital and analog) and texts, audiovisual recordings, sculpture, installations, drawing compositions / sound, documented research performances and live performances.

She holds a PhD in Sound Art from the University of Huddersfield (UK).

Ursula Bravo, born in 1988, studies the phenomenon of rhythm as a universal language, uniting representations of those beats, images, text, sounds or movements.

It combines his research with graphic design and image creation, participating in occupied spaces and using these tools for the dissemination of culture.

He has collaborated with The Remnant (Murcia), AADK Spain (Murcia), La Postiza (Murcia), Art'nGround (Rojales), Centro Parraga (Murcia), Gallery Lady aflita (Oporto), Faculty of Fine Arts of Granada, and Space Nigredo (Madrid).
