Three guided tours show the history of Murcia from the gender perspective (08/09/2016)

The new season of the 'Tours Feminine Plural' program, which the City of Murcia, through the Department of Social Rights in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Employment and Culture shows the participation of women in building the history of Murcia, begins next Saturday with the 'Leisure for women' route.

Councillor of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, explained that after the "success of affluence" in the previous edition, in this new course program includes three thematic routes more, in which the role of shown resumes women in the fields of culture, art, politics, work and leisure.

The aim is to inform all citizens a new vision of the history of the city, raising awareness and promoting gender equality through the Murcian cultural heritage, both individuals and visitors Murcia themselves.

As explained Ruiz Caballero, "it is a positive action for equality, making visible the work and role of women throughout history in both the private sector and its participation in public, social, cultural sphere and educational".

So, for this edition has he edited a thousand leaflets which will be distributed in the Tourist Offices of the municipality from next Saturday and attendees who come to the first of the three routes organized, which will visit the Romea Theatre, Circus Theatre, the Royal Casino of Murcia and the Cinema Rex, among other places.

On October 5 religious iconography will star in the route that will be based on the description of the female images of the Church of San Andrés, Almudí, Old Bridge and Murcia Cathedral.

The last of the scheduled visits can be made on November 12 and will focus on education and teachers, can revive the work of teachers as Maria Maroto or Carolina Codorniú, which are very present throughout the tour Colleges García Alix, Cierva Penafiel and Mariano Baquero.

These three routes complete the 'Feminine Plural Routes' project, which began on March 12 with the general visit the Convent of Corpus Christi and Santa Clara;

April 9 the tour was developed by the City Museum and the Fine Arts, being able to observe the Muslim Murcia;

and May 7, the route through the streets of Tatters, Silverware, Mercado de Veronicas and spun silk factory Piamontesa spread the work of women outside the home throughout history and economic sectors.

This action of the Department of Social Rights, headed Conchita Ruiz Caballero, is framed within the Municipal Programme for Equal Opportunities 2016 which aims to integrate gender equality in the implementation, evaluation and planning of municipal activities in the municipality of Murcia .
