A round table of the School of Tourism UMU calls for greater effort in promoting tourism (01/03/2016)

A round table held at the School of Tourism at the University of Murcia (UMU) to mark the centenary of the center has analyzed the situation in the tourism sector in the region and called for a greater effort in promoting it.

The debate turned on the report prepared by the Circle of Economy of the Region of Murcia, in which the incidence is stated that the paralysis of major infrastructure projects on development of the region.

In this section, special emphasis on the situation of Corvera airport, which although is finished for some time, is still pending different requirements for opening sets.

For the aforementioned Circle, greater external promotion of regional tourism resources is essential and, on the other hand, private initiative has to lead the improvement of the sector.

better coordination of public authorities involved and private enterprise is also claimed, in order to achieve the best possible results, in addition to exposing the need to better structure the offer, not to mention the convenience of carrying out the necessary actions to combat seasonal adjustment.

The debate was attended, among others, the Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment of the Autonomous Community, Juan Hernandez;

Councillor for Employment, Tourism and Culture of the City of Murcia, Jesus Pacheco, and President of the Bureau of Tourism, Angel Luis Guarino, along with the president of the Circle of Economy, Bruno Dureux, and the Tourism Commission of this entity, Gerardo Cuartero.

The roundtable, attended by the rector, José Orihuela, was moderated by Professor of the University of Murcia Miguel Lopez Bachero.
