More than 10,000 vehicles a day will run from today by the road between El Palmar and La Alberca of the South Coast (29/02/2016)

In addition to the new road of almost 800 meters between La Alberca and El Palmar, works included the construction of a new viaduct over the A-30 and improvement of the existing bridge above.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Bernabé, today inaugurated the new road between El Palmar and La Alberca of the South Coast, which serves more than 10,000 vehicles per day.

In addition to the new road of 800 meters between La Alberca and El Palmar, works included the construction of a new viaduct over the A-30 and the improvement of the previous existing bridge, "which has allowed put into service two lanes movement in each direction, also equipped with sidewalks, bike lanes, new barriers and lighting, increasing road safety in this overpass, "the mayor.

Specifically, the vial was opened comprises two sections: the urban diversion of El Palmar (old N-301) with access to La Alberca (road RM-302), and the section that runs from the intersection with Avenue Mayday El Palmar to the roundabout Auditorium of La Alberca.

The performance has been funded by the regional government with 5 million euros and executed by Urbamusa, and is part of the agreement signed by the CARM with the city of Murcia, which includes two phases (the first one is already executed and the second is running), with a total investment of 66 million euros.

This second phase is being developed includes a total of 10 sections.

Of them have already been put into service 5.

"The remaining five will be opened to traffic over the next few weeks, easing a significant amount of traffic the municipality", he stated the mayor.

Improved connection and accessibility of 15 districts

The third phase of the overall project is in the planning stage and may be the result of a new agreement with the Autonomous Community.

This third phase will include, in the South Coast, the stretch from Algezares to Torreagüera;

and the North Coast the road between Terra Natura and Guadeloupe, with a new viaduct on the A-30, and the section between La Ñora and Sewer.

After completion of the work of the three phases of the overall project, which will serve a total of 15 districts, the South Coast will connect to the residents of San Gines, El Palmar, La Alberca, Santo Ángel, Algezares, Los Garres, San José de la Vega, Barriomar and Torreagüera;

while the North Coast will join Cabezo de Torres, Churra, El Puntal, Espinardo, Guadalupe and Javalí Viejo.
