The first edition of the Week Huerta celebrated in the streets of Apostles and fairs of Belluga Gourmet Products la Huerta and Clothing and Traditions.

Ballesta: "We are adding support and efforts to protect this legacy stands as a central element of the city model that we dream for Murcia".

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, today attended the activities organized within the First Week of the Huerta, an event that in this day offered two essential events: the First Fair of gastronomic products of the Garden and the Fair Wear Huertanas and Traditions (the latter from 20 hours).

"La Huerta is positioned as a central element in the city model that we dream for Murcia.

And we want to do so under the leadership and active participation of different groups, associations, cultural groups, folklore and institutions related to the Huerta, who this weekend are the protagonists of the city life, "said José Ballesta.

"We work with a common goal: to revitalize and protect this ecosystem is a living part of the identity of the municipality and the I Week Huerta is a perfect opportunity to raise awareness and families to enjoy the wealth of this rich ecological, landscape and cultural heritage , which belongs to all Murcia, "added the mayor.

José Ballesta made the remarks at the opening of the First Fair of Products of the Huerta, held during this weekend in the vicinity of the cathedral, where it is available to Murcia products Vega del Segura, in a large outdoor market with 14 exhibitors of green and typical local food producers.

The event, which features a promotional stand of Murcia native chicken is celebrated with the participation of Huertanas Peñas "The Tablacho", "Silk", "The esparteña", "The Lebrilla" and "Garlic" which offer tastings of typical gourmet recipes.

In parallel also it celebrates the Fair of Shoes Huertanas Traditions, sponsored by the Merchants Association Carmelitani where uses, costumes and traditions of the garden are exposed.

This afternoon, at 19:30, the mayor also attended the first parade of costumes and customs of the garden, with the participation of the Group of Songs and Dances Francisco Salzillo, the Federation of Peñas vegetable garden, Peña La Carreta, Lord lily and New Models Agency, to culminate with the performance of Bhangra group of India.

With the aim of promoting the cuisine of the earth, it is also celebrating the Ruta de la Tapa de la Huerta, organized in collaboration with Hostemur and who have joined about thirty establishments offering during this weekend, exclusive tapas made with local products and drink at the price of 2.50 euros.

huertana Skewer, morcilla candy, cone pastry stuffed with ratatouille or sirloin Murcia flat Murcia oil with garlic tart are some of the tapas you can taste.

Saturday also held a photo marathon in which are reflected and exposed various artistic photographs with the moments and natural landscapes characteristic of the Huerta.

Sunday, family entertainment

Tomorrow Sunday, the closing day of the first edition of this week, have organized a series of activities aimed at family entertainment:

- Bicycle route to the wheel of La Ñora, which will depart at 10.30 hours from the Paseo del Malecon and complete a journey of 15 kilometers.

- Family March for the garden.

Itinerary walk to the Mill of Love along 6.5 kilometers, departing from the Paseo del Malecón at 11 hours.

- Popular food: in the garden of the Malecon, open to the participation of all.
