The Socialist Party calls the City Council to take precedence missing of the South Coast from Algezares to Torreagüera works (24/02/2016)

The full City Council of Murcia discussed tomorrow two motions that directly affect southern districts of the city, in particular to the people of the South Coast, from El Palmar to Torreagüera.

On the one hand, an initiative that the Municipal Socialist Group calls for the City Council to be given priority to the start of construction of the third phase of the South Coast, for the completion of the work from Algezares to Torreagüera.

In addition, the Autonomous Community comply with the plan approved in 2002 to undertake road widening and improvement of sidewalks on the streets of Santo Angel and La Alberca surrounding the sericulture station.

The road from the South Coast is a high-capacity satellite must connect, along 10.2 kilometers, the villages of El Palmar and Torreagüera through La Alberca, Santo Angel, Algezares, Los Garres, San José de la Vega and Beniaján.

The new road is the alternative to the current road RM-302, and must release the constant passage of vehicles to the main streets of the villages of the area.

At present the South Coast is cut in Algezares, from La Alberca.

According to the PSOE, the southern part of the town has been very neglected when it comes to carrying out infrastructure, since the vast majority of the investments made in recent years have been devoted to the northern part of the city.

"Delays in execution of works of the South Coast are an inconvenience to the daily lives of thousands of Murcia and Murcia who live, work or travel through that area," the councilor Begoña García Retegui.

The detailed study of sericulture station was finally adopted by the plenary of the Corporation dated January 31, 2002 and subsequently amended by the plenary of March 25, 2010.

Plan fixed a width of 16 meters for the surrounding streets of the enclosure (Verdolay of Santo Angel and Turbintos Malecon and La Alberca).

Today, the streets have Verdolay Turbintos and only 9 meters wide, while at Malecón width is smaller.

The three surrounding streets withstands intense traffic because in addition to facilitate the transition to houses and roads between villages, with walkways for access to schools and residential areas and common pathway way to our Regional Park Carrascoy-El Valle and sports and tourist facilities and services.

The assignment to widen streets had to make the land under management, which had a total area of ​​97,000 square meters.

The surface had to give was over 6,500 square meters.

The amendment of 2010 did not affect assignments.

The plot is owned by the Autonomous Region of Murcia and she does have implemented the provisions of detailed study.

The Plan, however, has failed in regard to the proposed transfers, without either the city of Murcia and the respective municipal boards affected so far have defended the interests of neighbors and residents of the districts.
