Jesus Pacheco, the new ambassador of La Seda (22/02/2016)

The orchard Peña La Seda de La Alberca celebrates the 41st anniversary of the blessing of the seed of the silkworm, a strong tradition for the meaning it had obtaining this fiber in Murcia, with cultural activities and traditional pilgrimage.

Councilman Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, was presented this morning as Ambassador of La Seda 2016, which has given witness the outgoing ambassador, Diego Aviles, president of the Brotherhood of Christ of Forgiveness.

On March 4, at 20.30, in the orchard Peña La Seda, the chronicler of this organization and member of the Real Academia Alfonso X the Wise and Matritense of Heraldry and Genealogy, Luis Lison, star in the conference 'The blessing of the seed of the silkworm, an old orchard and endearing tradition '.

March 5, at 16 am at the headquarters of the orchard rock, and I Blessing of the Seed concert will be held by Antonio Soler, who will present songs from their first album 'Present' and also offer a tribute to groups as the last of the row and Secrets and artists like Antonio Vega and Manolo García.

The program of activities will close on March 6, from 10 am, with the traditional procession of the blessing of the seed of the silkworm, from the headquarters of the rock to the Ermita de San Antonio el Pobre.

Later, at 12 am, a Mass where the seed is blessed will be held.

The Blessing of the Seed Silkworm dating from the nineteenth century: in those years the huertano craved the arrival of the first days of March, to collect the seed he had stored in his hut in order to be able to bless and get a great harvest the campaign was about to begin.

At that time the huertanos joined in a pilgrimage to the Ermita de San Antonio El Pobre, passed through the sericulture station La Alberca and gathered the Christ of Forgiveness, Patron of Torcedores and Silk Weavers, who was there guarded, to thereby achieve the Hermitage together and celebrate a mass campaign in which they proceeded to the blessing of the seed.

The orchard Peña La Seda in 1975 and after many years of inactivity, reflects the tradition and proceeds to bless, year after year, the seed of the silkworm.

The blessing was held for a few years in Santa Catalina del Monte because the Ermita de San Antonio the Poor was in very bad state -there has since returned to the city of Murcia rehabilitated in 2006.

The image of the Christ of Forgiveness in this pilgrimage belonged to the sericulture station, which was founded in 1892 on the road to El Palmar.

In 1912 he went to the pool.

Station disappeared in 1977, members of the rock alberqueña recovered the image of Christ, which has since custodian at its headquarters.

They are the ones who care about promoting the blessing of a crop that is supported by the efforts of a few.
