The city faces the Huerta (20/02/2016)

Guided tours, food fair, school initiatives, outreach and proposals forum for family entertainment are some of the actions organized seeking the involvement and participation of Murcia

More than fifty activities will happen from next Monday to celebrate the First Week of Huerta de Murcia, an initiative with which the Council aims to achieve an intense mobilization, open to participation by all residents.

The aim is "to inform citizens own historical and natural resource in our town, we can not allow to remain foreign to our reality," said Antonio Navarro, Town Planning, Environment and Huerta and responsible for this event along with the Association of Friends of the Garden Azacaya.

Navarro ensures that this space, of great scenic, environmental, cultural, agricultural and historical value "needs to regain its value as the core of our town and we need to attract to our present and future just as it is part of our roots."

For seven days, the Huerta will be starring in local life because around it will rotate a series of proposals "designed to give value to this own unique and singular space of our land," said Navarro, who pointed out that precisely in seeking the involvement of all, it has planned actions aimed at schools, awareness and dissemination events, gastronomic events, for heritage and other particularly aimed at family entertainment.

So I Week Huerta is promoted and coordinated by the City initiative, but also has the support of the Board of Landowners Federation of Peñas vegetable garden, Merchants Association Carmelitani Ecopatrimonio, Ecoespuña, Murcia Huerta Viva, Huerta Bizarra and Hostemur.

The program prepared is large and diverse.

It will begin with the centers involved in the School Gardens Network, will receive on Monday the distinctive accrediting them as such.

Anyway, throughout the course have been incorporated into the schedule of schools specific activities related to the Week of the Garden, including contests photowalk, drawing and writing, lectures and convening of the annual award for Best Orchard School Municipality.

Experts also have their place in programming and thus, each of the five working days in the City Hall Annex building, a disclosure forum will be held from 19 am.

The opening will be borne by Antonio Navarro, who will present the Plan of Action of the Huerta de Murcia developed by the City and the following days will be devoted to addressing issues such as archeology, agriculture, architecture and etymology.

Each day will involve renowned experts in each of the areas.

Meanwhile, the Food Week will have the weekend to mainly the celebration event in the Street of the Apostles of the Food Fair.

A major role in the conference will be for the outreach and dissemination of heritage, most of which will take place next weekend, with different tours to discover the historical and agricultural wealth of the garden as well as the organization a marathon photo, Fair of Shoes Huertanas Traditions, an open meeting of the Council of Wise Men or performance of environmental volunteering.

Earlier on Monday, it will remain open information about the First Week of Huerta in the Plaza de Santo Domingo and a photographic exhibition at the Abenarabi building, headquarters of the Department.

Activities are also targeted for family leisure.

To this end on Sunday there is provided a bike path to the Wheel of Nora, a familiar place by the garden and a popular food in the Garden of Malecón.
