The City of Murcia celebrates the '8 of Marzo' with activities that promote equal education (18/02/2016)

An exhibition of Murcia photographers, workshops and guided city tours will highlight the role of women in Murcia cultural, historical and artistic area.

The Plenary Hall will host the 8th, the official ceremony with the awards 'Murcia Equality'

The Department of Social Rights, headed Conchita Ruiz, scheduled advocacy and promotion of women entitled 'Equality builds coeducation' as a strategy to achieve equality between men and women, on the occasion of the celebration of 'March 8', International Women's Day.

Thus, the city of Murcia adds to the theme chosen by the UN for 2016: "For a planet in 2030 50-50: take a step to gender equality."

The program of activities starts on 18 February with the inauguration, at the Casino de Murcia, in the exhibition "Equal Objective.

Women photographers', with production of María Manzanera, Mar Sáez, Aita Salinas, Teresa Arnal, Ana Bernal, José María Celia Reche and Prisons.

The same exhibition will be transferred on March 4, and until 21 March at the exhibition hall of the Municipal Center El Carmen.

This exhibition along with the workshop 'Women Creators in Murcia' and guided city tours will highlight the role of women in Murcia cultural, historical and artistic area.

Also, they have been organized for the 5th, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Women of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, advocacy at gender equality.

It is also planned to develop the day 'Education and Gender', the 7th, in the Auditorium of La Merced, where academic and expert on coeducation present their perspective on this matter.

In addition, on March 8 will present the awards 'Murcia Equality', in the Hall of City Hall, which aim to promote gender equality and encourage a greater presence of women in all areas of life, including access to employment as a key element contributing to their autonomy and empowerment.

The purpose of the award is to distinguish public and visible companies, respect and implementation of equal opportunities between genders in its structure and organization of work, encouraging entrepreneurship Murcia incorporate and develop a corporate policy based on the principle of gender equality (in access to employment, working conditions, career advancement, work-life balance) and positive action by hiring women victims of gender violence or women in situations of social exclusion.

The Centers for Women of the municipality will join this celebration with workshops and activities which will present the experiences of good practices carried out to facilitate the participation of women in cultural activities and creating opportunities for dialogue among associations women in the municipality.

Murcia City Council aims to advance in this direction and calls for public and private institutions bet on the implementation of the principle of gender equality across the board in all areas, especially in education, culture, sport and political life.
