The Holy Spirit Urban Plan, national example in Urban Initiatives Network (16/02/2016)

Modernization Councilman Jose Guillen, attended this morning at a conference held in Madrid on opportunities for cities offering the first call for the European Union for innovative urban actions.

The aim is to facilitate the integration of information technology and communication in urban development, moving towards a model of smart city

Councilman Administration Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, Jose Guillen this morning attended the conference organized by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration in which it has carried out the presentation and launch of the new website Innovative Urban Initiatives network and which have been discussed opportunities for cities offering the first call for Innovative urban actions.

Urban Initiatives Network is the main mechanism for coordination of urban development for the period 2013-2020, a period in which the urban dimension is becoming included in European politics.

Guillen stressed that the goal is to facilitate the integration of information technology and communication in the urban development of Murcia, moving towards a model of smart city.

The Network is also open for the exchange of experience and good urban practice forum.

Murcia participates in the Urban Initiatives Network (RIU) and is a beneficiary of the aid for the project URBAN Holy Spirit approved in 2009. A proposal from the RIU the project has been presented at the Second Conference on Structural Funds and 2014-2020 investment and comprehensive elimination of slums performances held in the Centre of Urban Environment Malaga on February 17, 2015, and the annual event of Regional Policy and European Funds in Spain 2015, held at the Fine Arts in Madrid on 26 and 26 January 2016.

Likewise, Murcia has participated since 2015 in the Working Group for the development of the Urban Agenda for Spain.

Within the new programming period 2014-2020, Urban Initiatives Network is configured as a coordination mechanism, promoting and supporting the management and evaluation of activities in urban matters is still a need to share best practices and disseminate the results of instrument innovative urban projects.
