A doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia says that the bull has astigmatism and farsightedness (15/02/2016)

The bull usually farsightedness in the horizontal meridian, more adults than in younger individuals, and also astigmatism, according to the conclusions of the doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia by Matteo Lo Sapio.

The study, which analyzed the different aspects of vision and ocular anatomy bull indicates that astigmatism is due to the vertical meridian is more myopic than the horizontal.

It has also revealed that the axial length significantly increases with age and that the density of retinal photoreceptor cells is greater at the top than at the bottom.

The dissertation was supervised by professors at the University of Murcia Juan Seva, which is also the official veterinarian at the bullring in Murcia, and Juan Manuel Bueno.

Moreover, the bull has been studied also in the doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the same university for Juan Ros Sempere, who has analyzed the types of muscle fiber 48 bulls fight at the arena of Calasparra ( Murcia) on the occasion of the Golden Spike Fair is held every year on the same.

The study concludes that the skeletal muscle of steers studied "was well prepared to face the effort of the fight."
