Murcia turns to the Family Sports Festival with more than 60 activities for all ages (14/02/2016)

Athletes like Spanish canoeist with best Olympic history, David Cal, wanted to join the Family Sports Festival which hosted today the Murcia neighborhood of Santa Maria de Gracia, a massive event record-breaking participation with almost 15,000 attendees, who they enjoyed physical activity throughout the day.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, said, "It was a day of real passion for the sport with more than 60 activities that have been developed over 110,000 square meters" and reported that "the first dives in the pool Mar Menor and career Valentine were the activities that most interest generated among the public ".

"This level of participation demonstrates the interest that triggers the sport between Murcia and Murcia of all ages, so we're already thinking about the next edition of the Festival Family Sport, always with the crucial support of the 60 sports Federations of the Region of Murcia, who work all year to put Murcia sport on top, "said the mayor.

This fun event included exhibitions and sports competitions as gymnastics, billiards, archery, judo, table tennis, caving, triathlon, parkour, petanque, skate, biking, skating, athletics, tennis, volleyball, trampoline, boxing, bowling, chess, basketball, zumba, fencing, caving, swimming, motorcycling, hockey, badminton, athletics, soccer, rowing and so on.

Participants also received theoretical and practical notions on regulatory and technical skills.

They have also organized educational workshops for all ages, tests on simulators, activities for people with disabilities and has enabled a playroom with children's activities focused on environmental stewardship.

The day was also attended by the Councillor for Administration Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, Jose Guillen;

Councillor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello;

Councilwoman Social, Conchita Ruiz;

Councilman Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco;

and the councilman of Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Perez.

In addition, participants were able to test against the Pavilion Prince of Asturias, at no cost, electric motobike, an innovative hybrid vehicle field between a motorcycle and a bicycle.

The Office of graffiti, painted a large sports-themed mural on the side of the Tennis Club, opposite the pavilion Cagigal.
