The Office of Tourism of the City receives award for quality tourism in the Autonomous Community (29/06/2010)

The Tourist Office of the City of Murcia has received this morning the tourist quality award granted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Community.

This is the best Office of Tourism 2009.

The Councillor of Tourism, Maria Isabel Valcarcel, collected the award and expressed his satisfaction highlighting the work of all professionals working in the office, quality of service offered and tourist material is delivered.

The City of Murcia has two Tourist Information Points, one located in the plaza Belluga and the other at Santa Clara (back Romea Theatre).

For tourist information points have been 125,815 tourists in 2009, of which about 18.61% are foreigners, a 22.39% are nationals and 39.33% are in the Region of Murcia.

When given this distinction, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has taken into account compliance with quality standards, the degree of satisfaction of the people served, the trajectory of the office, staff participation in training courses and reports prepared by the 'mystery shopper', among many other things.

The Tourist Office of the City of Murcia is part of the Network of Tourist Information Offices in the Region of Murcia.

Tourists who pass through the offices of the City of Murcia is interested above all in the sights and routes to the city, in the case of national and shopping streets, museums (especially Salzillo) and the Casino, in the case of foreigners.

Mostly, visitors come to town because of cultural visits to meet with family and friends to participate in the festivities and because of studies, work and business.

People go to tourist information points are mainly interested in planes, flyers and related cultural celebrations, festivals and trips and routes.

Tourist Information Points are open Monday to Saturday, 10 to 14 and from 17 to 21 hours, Sundays and holidays from 10 to 14 hours.

Journalists who serve in uniform and visitors will speak English and a second language (German, French or Italian).
