Murcia City Council renews public lighting improving the safety of residents in districts (02/12/2020)

| During these days, lighting works are being carried out in Esparragal, Espinardo and Santiago and Zaraiche where new smart lights are being renovated in 339 points | The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration led by José Guillén, is carrying out work to improve public lighting throughout the municipality. These works are also being carried out within the framework of the Murcia Smart City and Murcia Aire Limpio strategy that advocates in this case to favor the improvement of the environment, visibility and safety of the area and contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the neighbors of the municipality.During these days, the lighting works are being carried out in Esparragal, Espinardo and Santiago and Zaraiche where new smart lights are being renovated in 339 points.In Santiago and Zaraiche, 95 light points are being replaced, which will make it possible to stop emitting 360,000 kilos of CO2 into the atmosphere during the life of the luminaires, which will mean a saving in energy consumption of 728,000 Kwh and an economic saving of more than 100,000 euros.Specifically, they have performed in the garden of Río Segura street, Pintor Valverde, Campillo street, La Flora 2 garden, Ceña avenue, Campillo F3 garden, Antonio Segura garden, Picazo path, Juan Ramón Jiménez street, Aurora street, garden Rubén Darío street, Paseo Garay garden, San Juan de la Cruz avenue, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente street."These improvements in districts are carried out thinking about the safety of the neighbors who circulate on the road, we act on roads and sidewalks with little visibility to make them more passable at any time of the day.

The City Council also assumes in this way, its commitment for stopping climate change "has highlighted José Guillén.The luminaires installed in the last year will save more than 5 million euros and will avoid the emission of 17 million kilos of CO2, throughout their useful lifeThanks to the investment made, with the installation of 9,780 luminaires since 2019, during their useful life, which is 12 years, 17 million kilos of CO2 will no longer be emitted and 5,297,000 euros will be saved."The Murcia City Council thus assumes its commitment to curbing climate change, improving the environment and the quality of the air we breathe.
