The artist Lola Berenguer wins the XX painting prize of the University of Murcia (28/09/2020)

| Berenguer, a native of El Ejido, studied Fine Arts at the University of Seville | The University of Murcia has failed the XX painting prize, which has gone to the work 'Laws.Art.14', by the ejido Lola Berenguer Suárez, for which the artist will receive a prize of 5,000 euros. In the words of the author, "the geometric language used intuitively is a recurring and essential tool to approach my work, which accepts certain internal laws as revealing of my own doing.

The curious thing is that these laws are not immovable and when they ask me to reveals them, I almost always face more than one contradiction.

However, what does not change is the special attention I pay to the formal qualities of painting, the care with which I manipulate the materials, my rituals and my aspiration to achieve harmony and coherence ". Two second prizes have also been awarded, corresponding to Francisco Valladolid Carretero for the work 'Bodegón de la Música' and Alonso Sánchez Blesa for the work 'Procesador B-800'. The ruling took place in the premises of the Museum of the UMU (Old Artillery Barracks), the jury being composed of the rector José Luján, as honorary president, and Rosa Brun, painter and professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts, acting as members.
