Promote well-being in times of Covid (28/09/2020)

| ELIS Murcia students participate with other 55,000 young people around the world in the global effort to promote well-being in times of Covid | Students highlight the critical role physical and emotional well-being play in education during Global Be Well DayCovid-19 has focused on the well-being of young people more than ever.

On Friday, September 25, ELIS Murcia interrupted the usual course of its classes to commemorate Global Be Well Day, an international event led by Cognita, the group of more than 75 schools of which this school is part. The activity and learning day aimed to expand the knowledge of students and parents about well-being at a time when Covid-19 affects all aspects of life.

As Vanessa Grimward, director of the center explains, "the uncertainty generated by the Covid has meant that the school has changed from online learning and teaching to face-to-face and vice versa at various times in recent months.

It is to be hoped that this situation can continue , and that makes our priority focus on wellness doubly important.

"The Global Be Well Day at ELIS Murcia included workshops on drawing, yoga, sleep, personal care, mindfulness or a balanced diet among many other and varied activities. The director of ELIS Murcia affirms that "by joining Global Be Well Day 2020, we are reinforcing the vital importance of well-being as the foundation that should support all aspects of education."Linked to this Global Be Well Day, the students and staff of the school are participating in the Cognita's Active World Challenge, which involves everyone in the school community to exercise "walking the path" to a sister school of the Cognita family."The idea is to record and add up the kilometers we travel in different activities during the four weeks around Global Be Well Day to 'get' to the other school.

We have students, parents and staff running, swimming, rowing and much more so that we can reach the Huddersfield Grammar School in the United Kingdom, more than 2,400 kilometers from us."There is evidence that shows that regular exercise and staying connected to others, something that continues to be a challenge during this pandemic, are some of the key factors in caring for our well-being," says Vanessa Grimward.

"Our Active World Challenge is a great way to do both and have fun."
