Murcian pharmacies advise more than 20,000 Murcians on anti-COVID tests and protocols (17/09/2020)

| Among the protocols they have developed, the management of telephone or telematic appointments for patients who are unaware of the use of new technologies stands out, putting them in direct contact with their doctors | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the president of the Official College of Pharmacists of the Region, Isabel Tovar, and the councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, this morning visited the pharmacy 'Mercedes Hernández Rex', located on the street Murcia Industry, in which the actions that are being carried out from the pharmaceutical sector to stop the expansion of the coronavirus have been announced."From the Murcia City Council, we make ourselves available to professionals in the pharmaceutical sector, who have been from the first moment and are on the front line to contain the coronavirus, readapting their facilities with security measures, solving all kinds of inquiries from the population and providing essential services ”, highlighted José Ballesta.Among the protocols that they have developed, the management of telephone or telematic appointments for patients who are unaware of the use of new technologies stands out, putting them in direct contact with their doctors.

In this context, pharmacies - which are working in coordination with Primary Care professionals, doctors and nurses - are key to containing the spread of the virus and avoiding unnecessary visits to health centers and hospitals.During the visit, the Murcian councilor added that "the professionals in this sector respond to the 20,000 Murcians who travel to pharmacies every day in search of advice and purchase of medicines, demonstrating their firm commitment to Murcian society."In total, the municipality has 191 pharmacies spread over Murcia and its districts.

On average, each pharmacy has two pharmacists, in addition to technicians.World Pharmacist DayDuring the visit, it was announced that, on the occasion of World Pharmacist Day, on September 25, the City Council will illuminate different enclaves of Murcia in green: the riverbed, the Almudí Palace, the Moneo Building and Alfonso X El Wise.More campaigns promoted from the pharmaceutical sectorPharmacies are also carrying out home pharmaceutical care, through the dispensing of medicines and health products with delivery to the patients' homes.In addition, they have carried out SPD (personalized dosing systems), something they already did, but which they have intensified due to the number of chronic and elderly in isolation in which lack of adherence to treatments was detected, paying special attention to those older than they live alone.

They also launched the Mascarilla 19 campaign to help potential victims of gender violence.
