Murcia will become part of the Green City group of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (17/09/2020)

| This working group will allow Murcia to position itself as a Smart Green benchmark nationwide and exchange experiences and knowledge with other cities | Murcia will become part of the Green City group of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities.The activities of the working groups constitute the heart of the RECI because it allows the member cities, through the different people that make it up, to acquire skills, knowledge and experiences that improve their work standards.In this context, Murcia will be part of the Green City: Sustainability and Infrastructures group, where pedestrianization, mobility, energy and modernization of urban green infrastructures will be discussed, among others.The working groups constitute the best forum for the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the member cities.

They are also an incentive for the technical staff of the different local entities, because they find references and technical solutions to specific problems that they must manage in their day-to-day activities.

In this way, the working groups act as the engine of the network in terms of generation and dissemination of knowledge.Spanish Network of Smart CitiesThe Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén has participated in the Board of Directors of RECI (Spanish Network of Smart Cities), which is chaired by Logroño and Santander.In addition, Murcia was present at the preparatory meeting of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities that took place yesterday in Madrid, before the event that took place in La Nave, which was attended by the presidents and other cities, via telematics, that are part of the RECI.The aim of this association is to generate a dynamic between cities in order to have a "Spanish network of smart cities".

The main motto of this edition is "Decarbonize, Digitize and Distribute: Future challenges for cities towards 2050".With this approach, the VI Smart Cities Congress addresses key aspects related to Smart Cities and Territories, emphasizing how the use of technology and innovation will allow us to achieve the Sustainable Development goals and the European commitments of a CO2-free society.

In this way, there has been talk about the transition towards cities with zero waste, the improvement of the environment, decarbonisation and sustainability, among others, as fundamental pillars to create a city of the future.Murcia has shown itself as a benchmark during confinement due to the Covid crisis, and in its later phases in teleworking, telematic attention to neighbors through electronic administration.The implementation of a smart administration open 24 hours, 365 days a year, which the Government Team has carried out in recent years, within its Murcia Smart City project, has been decisive in continuing to pay attention to the public during the Covid-19 era and thanks to which, also, more than 1,200 municipal employees have been able to continue carrying out their public service tasks remotely, thanks to the technological tools implemented in recent years.
