The Artillery Barracks hosts this Saturday EcoMobility Murcia, a commitment to the ecological vehicle (17/02/2020)

José Ballesta presented this day, which will take place from 11 am to 9 pm, with activities for the whole family and experts in the sector.

The exhibition will host presentations of models from different dealers, 'eco-dialogues' and a circuit of go-karts.

Murcia City Council is committed to sustainable mobility and the use of renewable energy with the Clean Air and Electric Vehicle strategy.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, the Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, and the director of the newspaper La Verdad, Alberto Aguirre, presented this morning 'EcoMobility Murcia 2020 ', the first sample of the Ecological Vehicle organized by the City of Murcia in collaboration with the newspaper La Verdad.

This is a day that will have sustainable mobility as its protagonist, with activities for the whole family, in which experts from this sector will participate, with the aim of bringing new means of transport to all Murcia, raising awareness about its importance.

“Mobility is a citizen right that favors territorial vertebration and social cohesion, but in order to be effective and respond to the demands of Murcia in the 21st century, that mobility must be clean and sustainable,†said José Ballesta, who announced that "We are immersed in a process of transformation of our transport model and, over the next few months, we will witness the implementation of new electrical means."

Clean Air and Electric Vehicle Strategies

The commitment to sustainable mobility of the City of Murcia is included in the Clean Air Strategy and Electric Vehicle measures, promoting the use of renewable energy and the sustainable development of mobility, as well as new transport systems in the city and new mobility models, through the application of the latest technological innovations to improve the quality of life of Murcia.

Among the latest measures for sustainable mobility carried out by the City Council, the new network of bike paths, the gradual renewal of the bus fleet and the acquisition of new vehicles powered by biofuels, hybrids or electric vehicles, the creation of deterrent parking lots, etc.

Aid to acquire electric vehicles in 2020

Through the Local Electric Vehicle Strategy, which includes a total of 50 measures to reduce polluting emissions in Murcia, the City Council subsidizes the purchase of electric vehicles, allocating 88,000 euros to this cause.

In this way, Murcia can receive aid throughout 2020, distributed in different concepts, such as the acquisition of electric bicycles, the installation of charging points for electric vehicles in communities of owners and the installation of self-consumption photovoltaics for residential use .

Thanks to the 2019 call, projects have been subsidized for an amount of 82,168 euros, of which 36 have been for the purchase of electric vehicles (34 bicycles and 2 motorcycles), 11 for charging points in public car parks and 1 for systems of motorcycle rental

The City of Murcia launched the Local Electric Vehicle Strategy, which was recognized in 2019 with the 'Renault Award for best practice in Sustainable and Accessible Mobility' in the Public Administration category, with a time horizon until 2019.

In this context, given that the measures that were considered as immediate have been implemented, the results obtained will be reviewed and monitored throughout 2020.

Technical tables of experts will also be convened to prepare and carry out the new Local Strategy of the Electric Vehicle 2020-2030, a process that will be open to the participation of neighbors.
