More than 800 high school students enjoy the concert for Peace and Gender Equality at the Romea Theater (29/01/2020)

More than 800 Secondary students from different educational centers of the municipality have enjoyed today the 'Concert for Peace and Gender Equality', which has been held at the Romea Theater in Murcia in two countries, at 10.30 am and 12.30 pm.

This activity is framed in the 'Making Citizenship' section of the # MurciaMiCiudadEnseña educational program, launched by the City Council for this school year.

The Councilor for Education and Infantile Schools, Belén López, has accompanied the students this morning to this poetic-musical recital 'Mujeres de Alma y Verso', offered by the Granada-born singer-songwriter Paco Damas.

“This is an eminently playful show, in which texts by female poets are used and in which students participate not only among themselves but also interacting with musicians,†explains López.

Likewise, the activity tries to promote among young people values such as coexistence, tolerance and respect, as well as consolidate peer learning, in the family, at school and in society, and give visibility to women.

The concert pays tribute to Spanish and Latin American universal authors, such as Rosalía de Castro, Concha Méndez, Alfonsina Storni, Dulce María Loinaz and Concepción Arenal, among others.

Music is also chosen with special intention for the activity with titles such as 'From my freedom', 'Thanks to life', 'Al Alba' or 'María, the Portuguese'.
